iServalan (Sarnia de la Maré FRSA)
Artist. Author. Musician.

In no particular order — because for me, they have never been separate.I am a multidisciplinary artist whose entire practice treats words as music, images as rhythm, and life itself as a living canvas. Every medium I touch — writing, sound, moving image, painting, performance, feeds into the same continuum. A sentence becomes a melody. A photograph evolves into film. A poem finds its way onto the stage or into a stock music cue. This is not scattered creativity; it is one continuous artistic language.

My Practice

Rooted in storytelling, symbolism, feminist perspective, and ecological awareness, my work explores identity, transformation, neurodivergent insight, and the blurred lines between human experience and cultural myth. I draw from classical training while pushing experimental boundaries, graphite and gold leaf portraits sit alongside reclaimed material sculptures (FRIX), double-exposure photography, scribble paintings, and immersive sonic landscapes.

My music and film work have been licensed worldwide. My books and audio stories reach audiences through multiple platforms and formats. Podcasts, visual art, and compositions all contribute to a sustainable, independent creative ecosystem that supports ongoing experimentation and cultural contribution.

Background & Approach

With a Master of Design in Film & Television, a Postgraduate Diploma in Music, and classical foundations from the University of Edinburgh and Frensham Heights School, I bring rigour and intellectual depth to highly intuitive, interdisciplinary work.

I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), recognising my contribution to creative practice and cultural dialogue.

Activism, particularly around feminism, ecology, and neurodiversity, has always informed the questions I ask through art rather than sitting apart from it.

The Continuum

Whether I am composing, writing, directing, painting, or performing, the thread remains the same: immersive storytelling that connects deeply with audiences. My revenue streams, from stock media and licensing, publishing, music distribution, film, and commissions — all support this single, evolving body of work.iServalan is the personal artistic identity through which this continuum flows. Tale Teller Club remains the imprint and collective home for much of the publishing and collaborative output.

I create because the boundaries between mediums feel artificial. Life, for me, is art in motion, and I invite you to step inside it.
